How to Repair a Soldering Iron

The soldering iron is needed in any economy. It is used for repair of electrical devices, and to interconnect a variety of metal parts. If the soldering iron is out of order, not always necessary to buy a new one. Sometimes it is enough to repair it, recover. Most often fix involves replacing the heating element.

You will need
- Ceramic resistance SEW-10;
- Asbestos yarn;
- Pliers;
- A sharp knife;

For example, it suffices to consider the sequence of actions in the repair of 60W Soldering Iron, rated at 220 V. To replace a faulty heating element, prepare ceramic resistance type SEW-10 rated from 1.0 to 1.5 kW. The hole, located in the center of the resistor, has a diameter which is easy soldering tip is included, with additional adjustment is required.

Remove the old blown heating element. On the case on the part of the longitudinal seam, do cross-propyl about the middle. Step back from the edge by 40 mm. Now expand the propylene side of the tube and cut off the corners of the formed socket. This is required in order to avoid contact with the resistance body pin Resistance, which will serve as a heating element, insert into the slot. Bend the body petals surrounding them nest and secure with clamp.

Now you need to connect to the updated heating element power cord. Cut with an electrical cord around 150-200 mm of insulation. Typically, a standard cable is double-insulated conductors, which must be removed. Freed ends of the wire over the entire length tightly wrap the thread of asbestos - turn to turn. This thread can be taken, for example, from a faulty heating pad. Isolated thread wire ends through the channels pull the handle and connect to the terminals of the new heating element. For the convenience of the resistor mounting legs bend, insert the inside of the pre-curved tip of the stripped wire and crimp pliers.
